Greetings current and prospective graduate students in sociology. The new Director of Graduate Studies in sociology is Dr. Fred Markowitz. His job is to advise you on course offerings, help you to construct a plan of work, help negotiate on your behalf with the faculty, help prepare you for comprehensive exams, and help you in your bureaucratic hurdles while you are here. He works closely with a graduate committee of faculty, as well as with the Chair of the Department, and the Associate Dean of the Graduate School.
