Action for a Sustainable Global Peace
ABOUT THIS WEBPAGE

The idea for this website began at a October 11th, 2001 meeting of the DeKalb Interfaith Network for Peace and Justice, DeKalb, Illinois.  The purpose is solely to provide a clearinghouse for information on alternative actions to the present course of military action embraced by the United States Government in its "war on terrorism."  Several of us present at that meeting are veterans of the Persian Gulf War anti-war movement and remember too well that the American media offered minimal coverage of war protests or any news that ran counter to unflinching support for the war effort.  We noted, however, that we didn't have the internet during the Gulf War.  And thus it seems fitting that we put out on the web some resources that can counter the American media's efforts to make this a single-sided war without protest.  We believe that the true road to a sustainable global peace lies, not in bombs and bloodshed, but in a comprehensive change of national awareness about our membership in this global village.

Suggestions for additional resources are welcome. Please contact the webmaster at <action4peace@aol.com>
