Network Analysis and Social Structure
Most recently I have been collaborating
with Prof. Giovanni Bernado, an Anthropologist, to extensive examine the
social support, influence, and mediation networks among member of a small
Tongan Village that he has been visiting and studying for over 10 years.
I aquired my interest in network analysis
and structural sociology in graduate school at the University of Chicago,
one of the centers for such training. My work first focused in my dissertation
on how interests of economic and political actors became part of the legislative
agenda of the Chicago Bar Association. Later I modeled using network and
structural techniques the structure of decision making among Supreme Court
Justices. I also modeled the cognitive structure of subdisciplines of Sociology.
